The All Progressives Congress, APC, has dragged the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission, ZASIEC, before the Federal High Court, Gusau, over alleged abuse of electoral laws regarding the forthcoming local government election.
Addressing newsmen at the party’s Secretariat, the state APC Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau alleged that Governor Dauda Lawal wants to use the Chairman of ZASIEC to manipulate the local government election.
“How can the governor appoint ZASIEC executive chairman the same day he fixed date for the sale of forms and 16 November for the election?,” he asked.
According to him, the electoral law provide that three months notification must be given to allow parties make adequate preparations like primary election and other arrangements
He called on party members who want to contest the local government election to hold on first as the party leadership is righting the wrongs.
