US global tariffs: ‘You have to take medicine’ – Trump react backlash over announcement

President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has told the global falling markets that “medicine” can be necessary at times.

The President added that he was not intentionally engineering a market selloff.

Trump briefly responded to reporters aboard Air Force One on the economic fallout from his sweeping tariffs.

“I don’t want anything to go down, but sometimes you have to take medicine to fix something,” the U.S. President said.

Global markets have seen significant changes following the tariffs imposed by Donald Trump last week.

Trump’s decision to impose levies of up to 50% on imports into the United States rocked stock markets.

Traders, investors, and consumers across the world are bracing for further declines as a new week begins.

However, the U.S. President’s worldwide tariffs will remain in place, according to Washington.

This was disclosed by U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Sunday.
