European giants Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid all fell to defeats in Wednesday’s Champions League matches.

Real Madrid were beaten 1-0 by their French hosts Lille, Bayern Munich fell to a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa while Atletico got thrashed 4-0 by Benfica.

In England, it was a late goal by Jhon Durán that sealed the win for Aston Villa over Bayern.

Meanwhile, Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory over Bologna, to keep their Champions League winning run this season, having begun with a win a fortnight ago.

Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah helped the Reds defeat battling Italian side Bologna at Anfield.

In the other Champions League ties, Sturm Graz were beaten 1-0 by Club Brugge, RB Leipzig lost 3-2 to Juventus, Dinamo Zagreb and Monaco played a 2-2 draw, while Girona fell to a 3-2 defeat to Feyenoord.
