The Federal Government has commenced the aerial spraying of pesticides in Sokoto and Zamfara States to control quelea birds and other destructive pests.

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, flagged off the exercise at the Bakolori Irrigation Farm in Bakura Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara.

Matawalle, who was represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Aminu Suleiman, noted that the step would help to boost local food production and prevent losses in this year’s dry season farming.
