Threads, a social media microblogging service operated by Meta Platforms, has rolled out a more advanced way to search for specific posts in a move to take on Bluesky.
The app, which is based on Instagram’s social graph and provides a Meta-run substitute for Elon Musk’s X, is introducing a new feature that lets users search for certain posts by date ranges and user profiles.
However, the new function isn’t as extensive as X’s advanced search, which now allows users to refine their queries by hashtags, excluded terms, language, keywords, exact phrases, and more.
Adam Mosseri, Instagram head, also informed in a post shared on social media that testing for the new feature, which he described as a long-overdue improvement,

‘‘Today we’re beginning to test a couple of long-overdue improvements to Search and Trending Now on Threads. In the new Search experience, you’ll be able to search within a specific date range or search for posts from a single account. In the US, where trending is now available, we’re testing an expanded set of trending topics, along with AI-powered summaries of what people are discussing. If you try out the new features, please share your feedback,’’ Mosseri wrote on Threads.
According to a recent post from the Threads social media account, users worldwide will have access to the brand-new search feature in the coming weeks.
Additionally, Threads is launching a new trending page in the US that offers AI-generated summaries of other users’ conversations along with more topics to follow.
