Newscenter Media News The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, Omoleye Sowore, has taken a swipe at the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the same election, Peter Obi, following his (Obi’s) visit to
> former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, at his Minna residence in Niger State.
The former Anambra State governor had announced the visit in a post on his X handle on Thursday where he said he paid a visit to the former leader where they discussed issues of national interest.
But the trip may not be unconnected with the death of Governor Namadi’s mother and son late last year.
Obi who also informed that he had visited Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi to commiserate with him over the recent deaths of his mother and son, had written:
“After leaving Jigawa State, I traveled to Minna, Niger State, to visit a father figure, elder statesman, and leader, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his residence. It was an opportunity to wish him a Happy New Year and exchange thoughts on national matters.
“General Babangida’s wisdom and insights remain invaluable, and I always cherish the opportunity to meet him and benefit from his guidance and advice.”
But the visit of Obi to IBB has not gone down well with Sowore who has faulted the LP leader for visiting a man he describes as someone who ruined Nigeria when he was in power.
In a post on his X handle @YeleSowore on Friday, the activist said:
“@peterobi how on earth could someone be returning from paying homage to Ex- Nigerian-ruiner, Ibrahim Babangida and then give his life to save Nigeria? Jokers!”, Sowore wrote.
