Schneider electric steps up campaign against counterfeit products

Schneider Electric, global leader in energy management and automation, has embarked on a sensitisation campaign at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos, to raise awareness about counterfeit products posing as genuine Schneider Electric items, ensuring safety, reliability, and authenticity for consumers.

The campaign, which underscored the firm’s proactive approach to combating counterfeit products, was aimed at educating customers and prospective buyers on the importance of purchasing authentic products.

Speaking at the market roadshow, Marketing Communications Manager, Schneider Electric, Omobolanle Omotayo, said that the choice of Alaba International market as one of Nigeria’s largest electronics hub, was because it hosts a multitude of distributors and dealers of electronic solutions, including products from the company.

He said: “One of the ways customers can identify an individual authorised reseller is through the presence of a Schneider Electric signage and the disparity in prices between the pseudo and original.”

Channels Sales Director, Schneider Electric, Anglophone West Africa, Nurudeen Oyedeji, said the campaign also aimed at strengthening the critical importance of end-users purchasing from authorised resellers, elaborating on the severe consequences of buying knockoffs from unauthorized resellers.

“Purchasing counterfeit products results in zero product warranty, poor quality, non-durability, health and safety risks, and environmental harm. It leads to unnecessary repairs and financial loss,” Nurudeen explained.

“Authorised resellers and distributors are present in Alaba market. All Schneider Electric customers are advised to purchase strictly from these distributors to avoid the detrimental effects of counterfeit products.”

He assured that the firm would continue to drive digital transformation by integrating world-leading process and energy technologies and services enabling integrated company management, for homes, buildings, data centres, infrastructure and industries.
