Sadiq joins Valencia on loan

Nigeria forward, Umar Sadiq has officially joined Spanish outfit Valencia, the club have announced on Saturday.

Sadiq, 27, signs for Valencia on a six-month loan deal from another LaLiga outfit Real Sociedad.

Los Ches, who are currently 19th in La Liga table, have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

“First of all, to come here. On the first day he (the coach) explained everything to me. He told me how much he believed in me and I saw what Valencia needed, which was the same as what I wanted,” he said at the unveiling ceremony.

“There was a coincidence between Valencia and me because I was very hungry and I saw that Valencia was too, and that made me come here.”

New manager Carlos Corberán will hope the Nigeria international’s arrival help boost the team’s chances of escaping relegation.

Sadiq had eatlier played for clubs such as Partizan Belgrade, Perugia, Rangers, NAC Breda, Torino, Bologna, Roma and Spezia, but scored just four goals in 35 league appearances for Real Sociedad.

Yet prior to his move to Real Sociedad, Sadiq enjoyed a productive spell with Almeria, scoring 43 goals and providing 13 assists in 84 appearances.

Valencia were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid on Friday, and will play their next game against Eldense in the Copa del Rey round of 32 next Tuesday.
