Newscenter Media News Tesla’s newly launched cybertruck cum robotaxi has been described as an accident waiting to happen by several European road safety organisations which are concerned about its use.
In a recent open letter, more than half a dozen non-governmental organizations, including the International Federation of Pedestrians and the European Road Safety Council, contended that Elon Musk’s large, unwieldy creation presents several risks to road safety in Europe.
The recent Czech Republic’s decision to register one of Tesla’s trucks as a passenger vehicle, so granting it entry into the continent, served as the impetus for the letter.

According to road safety activists, Tesla’s electric Hummer-like hulk could cause serious problems for Europeans, and the cars should be banned from the continent.
“It is our assessment that the approval and registration of Cybertrucks in the EU poses illegal risks to all other road users,” the letter reads. “If this analysis is accepted, it follows that the small number of Cybertrucks registered so far in the EU need to be de-registered, with the relevant Member State/s confirming their removal from public roads.”
“The Cybertruck fails to meet a range of basic European road safety norms that apply to passenger cars (M1),” the letter notes. “…These range from the Cybertruck’s inadequate, or non-existent, crumple zones for crash absorption to its sharp edges.”
