Police uncover shallow grave, arrest two in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two persons after its operatives uncovered a shallow grave.

A statement by the Ogun Command on Sunday disclosed that the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, led the operations to Ijebu Igbo where the corpses of deceased kidnap victims were exhumed from a shallow grave.

“Two suspects Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday arrested! This is a strong warning to perpetrators of crimes, YOU CAN’T HIDE,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun, last week issued a warning to criminals in Ogun State, saying that there would be no hiding place for them under his administration.

“It was reported that over 20 people were kidnapped at Ilisan along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway. However, the police clarified that only four individuals; a Nigerian and three Indian nationals were involved,” Abiodun said.

“The @OgunPoliceNG used various creative and ingenious means to bring the kidnappers to justice, neutralising all of them in the process.

“We want to warn criminals that Ogun State is a no-go area. Our administration is just beginning its efforts, and this incident is a sample of what the State Police Command has in store for criminals.

“If you test our will, we will come after you, smoke you out, find you, and neutralise you. As the industrial capital of Nigeria, we take serious offence at any breach of peace and security, providing necessary support to our law enforcement agencies to maintain investor confidence and business ease.

“The recent award as ‘Governor of the Year in State Security’ acknowledges our administration’s initiatives, investment, and support for security agencies. We thank the Commissioner of Police for his excellent work in motivating his men and collaborating with other law enforcement agencies.

“Our support for the police is showing positive results, and we are grateful for their hard work in ensuring the safety of our state.”

The Police Command reacting to the governor’s statement said its operatives will not stop working towards making Ogun State a safe haven for citizens and a place where criminals will never be tolerated.
