PDP summons Wike to disciplinary committee over alleged anti-party activities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called upon Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to appear before a disciplinary committee in response to accusations of anti-party activities.

Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, revealed this on Monday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Abdullahi explained that Wike had been formally invited to face the Tom Ikimi-led PDP disciplinary committee, established by the party’s National Working Committee.

“We set up two committees three weeks ago: one for reconciliation and one for discipline,” Abdullahi said. “Nyesom Wike is among those summoned by the disciplinary committee, which is chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi. This committee will review issues related to anti-party activities. We have received several petitions about sabotaging the party during the primary and beyond. Complaints against Wike and other members have been compiled and submitted to the committee.”

He added that some party members felt Wike’s continued prominence within the PDP was inappropriate and had voiced their concerns to the party leadership.

Abdullahi also criticized Wike’s recent remarks about “putting fire in their states” concerning PDP governors. “Wike should manage his words more carefully; that was a very disappointing statement. We didn’t expect him to say that, and frankly, we don’t support it,” Abdullahi said.

This announcement came just days after Wike expressed satisfaction with his role in Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite ongoing criticisms. During a PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, Wike threatened to create political turmoil in the states of any PDP governor who interfered in the party’s South-South affairs and told critics of his position in Tinubu’s government to “go and hug the transformer.”
