NGX: Bearish trend continues in equities market as investors lose N290m

For the second consecutive day, the equities market closed in the bearish territory as investors lost ₦290 million at the close of trading on Thursday.

This followed a dip in the share prices of stocks like MORISON, CI LEASING, and IKEJA HOTEL amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization crashed to ₦63.13 trillion from ₦63.14 trillion posted by the bourse on Wednesday.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) decreased to 102788.20 points from 102,836.13 points recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was negative as 27 stocks advanced and 28 stocks declined, while 65 stocks remained unchanged 11,933 deals.

SCOA, DAAR COMMUNICATION , and MAY & BAKER led other gainers with 9.76%, 9.09% and 8.43% growth each in prices to close at N3.60, N0.77 and N9.00 from the previous N3.28, N0.77 and N8.30 per share.

MORISON, CI LEASING, and IKEJA HOTEL led other price decliners with 9.98%, 9.91%, and 8.89% dip in share prices to close at N3.61, N3.91 and N12.30 from the previous N4.01, N4.34 and N13.50 per share.

On the volume index, GTCO led trading with 42 million shares in 467 deals followed by UBA which traded 37 million shares in 622 deals.

ZENITH BANK traded 25 million shares in 693 deals.

On the value index, SEPLAT traded stocks worth N7.9 billion in 116 deals followed by ARADEL which traded equities worth N3.2 billion in 388 deals.

GTCO traded shares valued at N2.5 billion in 262 deals.
