Newscenter Media News The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has stated that.the newly appointed coach of the national men’s team, Eric Chelle, will also be in charge of the home-based Super Eagles.
Usually, the head coach of the Super Eagles stays in charge of the main squad which comprises both international and local players, while the assistant coach handles the affairs of the home-based team.
The home-based Super Eagles team are set to participate at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) billed to hold in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda between February 1 and 28.
Prior to this time, the team were under the management of stand-in coach Ogunmodede, who had also invited 26 players to camp ahead of the tournament.

But now, Chelle, who was confirmed as head coach of the Super Eagles on Tuesday, will now take over the team as they look to make a fine return to the CHAN competition having been absent in the last two editions.
In an interview, the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau reiterated the football house’s resolve to integrate local players into the main national team, hence the decision.
He said: “We have come out with the policy that whoever we employ as the Super Eagles coach will also be the one to manage the affairs of the CHAN Eagles.
“We want players from the domestic league to be injected into the Super Eagles,” he added.
Meanwhile, the draw ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, January 15, at the International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
