Newscenter Media News Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in collaboration with hybrid forces and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have killed 11 terrorists at the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) Jango camp in Sambisa Forest of Borno State.
Intelligence sources said the team achieved the feat during a fierce encounter with the bandits at their hideouts within the forest.
The military sources, yesterday in Maiduguri, disclosed that the troops also recovered various weapons and ammunition.
According to a security expert, Makama, the recovered arms included 99 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammo link, 19 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 special ammo.
Other arms captured from the terrorists comprised three AK-47 rifle magazines, 47 rounds of ammunition, two each of locally made guns, and hand grenades. The military intelligence, however, reported no casualties on the part of the forces.
IN a similar vein, troops under Operation Hadin Kai, North-East and local hunters have successfully thwarted a Boko Haram plot to blow up high-tension electric pylons near Damaturu, the Borno State capital.
The terrorists on July 6, had planned to use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to destroy the critical infrastructure, potentially leaving thousands without power.
According to a source from the 27 Task Force Brigade, the troops and hunters laid an ambush and engaged the hoodlums in a firefight, forcing them to flee and abandon their vehicles.
A searched vehicle had eight IEDs, detonating cords, and a trade test card belonging to one Emmanuel Adamu.
The operation, according to the military demonstrates the intensified intelligence-led efforts of the personnel to frustrate sinister plans.
