Newscenter Media News Meta, formerly the Facebook company, is seeking a switch to nuclear energy to power its lofty AI ambitions.
Consequently, the tech company is targeting partners that would ultimately “permit, design, engineer, finance, construct, and operate the power plants.”
The company is interested in both SMRs and bigger reactors.

In an attempt to join Amazon, Microsoft, and Google in accelerating the deployment of more nuclear reactors, Meta will add 1-4 gigawatts of new nuclear generation capacity in the United States by 2030s.
“We believe nuclear energy will play a pivotal role in the transition to a cleaner, more reliable, and diversified electric grid,” Meta said in a statement.
Nuclear power facilities have gained popularity as a carbon pollution-free electricity source that can supplement wind and solar farms when the sun sets and the gales lessen.
