Madueke nets hat-trick as Chelsea hit six against Wolves

Noni Madueke scored a hat-trick as Chelsea secure a 6-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Blues had suffered a 2-0 defeat against champions Manchester City in their opening match of the season last week, but bounced back today.

Nicholas Jackson had headed the opener early in the game, and Mattheus Cunha leveled for Wolves on 27 minutes.

Chelsea went ahead again as Cole Palmer restored the lead before Jorgen Strand Larsen levelled one more time for Wolves deep into the first-half added time.

Madueke then scored a hat-trick between the 49th minute and 63rd minute before Joao Felix completed the rout in the 80th minute.

Madueke, who joined Chelsea in January 2023, has now scored more Premier League goals in Wolverhampton than he has at Stamford Bridge (two in 18 games).

Earlier in the day, Newcastle United played a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.

Dango Ouattara had a stoppage-time goal controversially ruled out in a dramatic finale as Bournemouth had to settle for a draw.

Marcus Tavernier scored for the hosts Bournemouth before Anthony Gordon equalized for Newcastle late on.
