The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has begun visitation of the four Emirate Councils in a move to have the understanding of the traditional leaders for a peaceful conduct of the forthcoming local governments election.
The Commission solicited the support of the Emir of Rano, Alh. Muhammad Isa Umaru for the successful conduct of the October 26 local government election.
KANSIEC Chairman, Prof. Sani Lawan Malumfashi emphasized the crucial role traditional leaders play in promoting peace and stability.
He urged the Emir to enlighten his subjects on the importance of maintaining peace, decorum, and shunning violence during and after the elections.
This partnership is vital for the success of the elections,” said Prof. Malumfashi.
“We appreciate the Emir’s commitment to peace and democracy,” he added.
The Emir of Rano pledged his full cooperation, promising to mobilize district heads, village heads, and ward heads, as well as his subjects, to support KANSIEC.
“We will render all necessary support to ensure your success in the election period,” he stated.
