Newscenter Media News The Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Disciplinary Committee made a landmark decision, awarding Nigeria’s Super Eagles three points and three goals in their aborted African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Libya.
The decision was announced in a statement released by the African football governing body on Saturday afternoon.
The verdict, which includes a $50,000 fine, comes after a thorough review by the Disciplinary Committee, solidifying Nigeria’s position in the qualifiers.

The Super Eagles had defeated Libya in their matchday three fixture in Uyo where the team secured a narrow victory with a lone goal at Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
They then travelled to Libya where the matchday four fixture was billed to hold only for the Nigerian contingent to be detained at the airport without food, water and internet.
The Nigerian squad endured over 14 hours of delays at the airport before being forced to return home as they withdrew from the game.
In response, CAF initiated an investigation into the incident following allegations of sabotage made by the Libya Football Federation, which had also threatened legal action against Nigeria.
