Four Kidnap suspects nabbed in Niger, arms recovered

Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have apprehended four suspected kidnappers in Rijau Local Government Area, recovering firearms allegedly used in their operations.

According to sources available to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the arrest followed a report filed by the Divisional Police Officer of Rijau on April 12, 2025, around 9:00 a.m.

The suspects—Shehu Mohammed (35) of Tunga Magajiya, Mamman Sani of Conner Shenjiri, Daudu Mohammed (37) of Udu, and Jibrin Ahmodu of Genu—were caught in possession of two locally fabricated pistols and a dane gun.

Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to the March 2025 abduction of Amina Mallam Sarkin-Noma Gatta, a resident of Agwa Gwanda village. Though the kidnappers had arranged a ransom of ₦3 million, the victim escaped the following day and later identified one of her abductors.

Police confirmed that all four suspects have confessed to the crime and remain in custody as investigations continue.
