Newscenter Media News A former Labour Party governorship aspirant in Edo State, Kenneth Imansuangbon, has resigned his membership of the party.
He announced his exit from the party in a letter to the LP National Chairman, Julius Abure and his Ward 2 Chairman in Ewohimi on Wednesday in Benin City.
Imansuangbon lost the LP’s governorship ticket to former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata, in the party’s primary election held early this year.
The party finished third in the September 16 governorship election in Edo State.

Imansuangbon cited the lack of internal democracy and the leadership crisis in the party as reasons for his decision.
The ex-aspirant, who was nicknamed the “Riceman” for his annual free rice distribution across Edo State, was a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
He lamented that LP had deviated from its core values and principles, rendering it incapable of offering Nigerians a credible and purposeful political alternative.
“After consulting with my teeming supporters statewide, I found it necessary for me and my followers to step away from the Labour Party,” he stated.
