Newscenter Media News Esan sons and daughters in North America, under the aegis of Esan World Congress (EWC), United States/Canada, are set to raise $100,000 for its Healthcare and Educational Empowerment programmes in Nigeria.
This will be one of the highlights of its 2024 convention, which will be held between July 26 and 28 in Houston, Texas.
Esan is an ethnic group of Edo State whose indigenes are traditionally agriculturalists, trado-medical practitioners, mercenary warriors and hunters.
In a statement, yesterday, Vice President of the body and Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee (CPC), Pius Idiakheua, disclosed the convention’s theme as ‘Stronger Together (Akugbe Ahu): Fundraising for Accessible Healthcare and Education Empowerment.’
Idiakheua stated: “This year’s EWC convention promises to be the mother of all conventions with the theme, ‘Stronger Together (Akugbe Ahu). It is designed to demonstrate the strength in unity of Esan people all over the world.
“Our target is to raise $100,000 towards accessible healthcare and educational empowerment in Esan land. Many of our illustrious sons and daughters, including the good friends of Esan people, will be present.”
Our traditional rulers (the Enijies) will be there as well.”
People’s Coalition Party (PCP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Dr. Nicolas Felix, will chair the convention, while Henry Egbiki is the keynote speaker.
“As chairman of the CPC, with the support of the President, Dr. Eromonsele Idahosa, we are ready to host you at the convention in a very big way,” Idiakheua added.
