Newscenter Media News Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has been nominated for the African goalkeeper of the year award.
According to the list released by the continental football body, CAf on Thursday, the Eagles no.1 will battle for the title with nine other goalies.
The Chippa United of South Africa shotstopper put up a fine performance for the Super Eagles throughout the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast earlier this year.
For the men’s Player of the Year award, Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman and Troost-Ekong have been included in the 10-man nomination list.
The current holder of the men’s title is Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, and he would possibly be handing over to another Nigerian.
Asisat Oshoala is the current African women’s best player, having pick up the award for a fourth consecutive time last year.
The Super Eagles have also been nominated for the Team of the Year category, acknowledging their outstanding performance which saw them making it to the final of the last AFCON.
The CAF Awards 2024 cover the period between January 2024 and October 2024.

The ultimate winner of each category will be decided after votes from a voting panel consisting of the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals from Member Associations, Head Coaches, and captains of Member Associations and clubs involved in the group stages of the Interclub competitions.
The CAF Awards 2024 ceremony is slated to take place on 16 December in the vibrant tourist city of Marrakech, Morocco.
