Newscenter Media News Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has resumed office as the National Secretary of People Democratic Party, PDP, amid the controversy aroud the party’s national leadership.
The publicity secretary of the party, Imo State Chapter, Lancelot Obiaku informed that Anyanwu, upon resumption took a cursory inspection of the complex before fielding questions from reporters who besieged his office.
His appearance at the national secretariat, according to Obiaku, was greeted with a resounding ovation by members and staff at the complex and a crowd of supporters who were around the complex before his arrival.
Recall that a Court of Appeal in Enugu had earlier restrained him from parading himself as the National Secretary of the party , a judgement he got a stay of execution on.
In a press statement concerning the appeal court judgement, Anyanwu had said the general rule is that, when an application for stay of execution has been filed and is pending, the judgement cannot be enforced until the application is determined.
” According to the Nigerian Court of Appeal, in the case of Ogbunyanwa V. Okudo ,LPELR-20815(CA) once an application for stay of execution is filed and pending, it operates as a bar to the execution of the judgement, pending the determination of the application” he stated.
The embattled national scribe of PDP, maintained that his application for stay of execution has been filed and pending in court for hearing, adding that the appeal court judgement has been appealed at the Supreme Court with a case number assigned.
“I have not in anyway shown a loss of interest in prosecuting the case, as a result, my position as the National Secretary of the party remains sacrosanct.
Any act that suggests otherwise or calculated to derelict my position runs contrary to the law and cannot be condoned.” he further stated.
